County seeks foster parents

Henrico has a significant need for foster parents, with 98 children placed in foster care as of April 30, according to Social Services. A total of 53 children entered care during the past year. > Read more.

Among the most promising numbers: Henrico’s sales tax revenues were up 7.3 percent in April as compared to the same month last year. “With this [recent] economic difficulty, consumers kind of batten down the hatches, and then at some point they decide enough is enough,” Henrico Finance Director John Vithoulkas said. “Residents got very cautious and now are starting to breathe and live their lives again.” > Read more. |

Two of Henrico County's finest educators were named the 2011 Gilman Teacher of the Year and First-Year Teacher of the Year at an awards ceremony last week. Gail C. Qualifying senior citizens can receive free relief from summer heat through the 23rd annual Fan Care program, which provides fans and cooling assistance to seniors 60 and older in need.
