The weekend typically is one of the deadliest holidays nationwide for alcohol-impaired traffic fatalities. Earlier today, a 37-year-old woman died in a crash in Eastern Henrico that police determined was alcohol-related. The car's driver, Charles L. Smith of the 200 block of Taylor Road in Sandston, was charged with driving under the influence (his third such offense) and driving while his license was revoked. > Read more. |

Henrico man becomes state trooper

James Leroy Darrington, Jr., of Glen Allen, became a state trooper and was assigned to Caroline County. “The graduation of the 116th Basic Session is an event to be celebrated by the new troopers, their families, state police, and the entire Commonwealth of Virginia,” said Colonel W. Qualifying senior citizens can receive free relief from summer heat through the 23rd annual Fan Care program, which provides fans and cooling assistance to seniors 60 and older in need.
