West Broad Village to operate outdoor ice skating venue ‘The Rink’

West Broad Village again will open The Rink, an outdoor ice skating venue at 3939 Duckling Drive in Glen Allen, this holiday season. The venue will open Saturday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. and will operate daily (weather permitting) through Jan. 29, 2017, including holidays. The Innsbrook Executives’ Breakfast Series continues at 7:15 a.m. at the Richmond Marriott Short Pump, 4240 Dominion Blvd. The guest speaker will be William A. Hazel, Jr., MD, secretary of health and human resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Hazel currently oversees 11 state agencies with more than 16,000 employees. Prior to his appointment, Hazel spent 22 years as an orthopedic surgeon in Herndon. Cost is $25 to $30. The series continues on the third Thursday of every month. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden teams up with “Go Nuts for Reading” partners M&T Bank, the Children’s Museum of Richmond, and the Richmond Flying Squirrels for a new event during the popular Dominion GardenFest of Lights show. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., stories will be read every half-hour and children can participate in a craft to make a literacy-themed holiday garland.
