West Broad Village to operate outdoor ice skating venue ‘The Rink’

West Broad Village again will open The Rink, an outdoor ice skating venue at 3939 Duckling Drive in Glen Allen, this holiday season. The venue will open Saturday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. and will operate daily (weather permitting) through Jan. 29, 2017, including holidays. Varina Library to continue Classic Family Films series with ‘Heidi’ and ‘Secret Garden’

Varina Library will continue its Classic Family Films series at 11 a.m. with “Heidi” (2005, NR, 104 minutes) and at 1 p.m. with “The Secret Garden” (1993, G, 101 minutes). “Heidi” is based on the book by Johanna Spyri and follows the story of a young Swiss orphan as she discovers a new life with her crusty grandfather in the Swiss Alps. “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett tells of a young girl who discovers the magic of a special garden and the special friendships that can grow when planted with care. REAP to present Walk & Roll for Kindness at Regency Square Mall

The Richmond Entrepreneur's Assistance Program (REAP) will present the Walk & Roll for Kindness event as part of its #REAPKindnessCampaign inside Regency Square Mall. The event, designed to raise funds for awareness of disabled individuals including job seekers and possible entrepreneurs, will feature a one-mile walk, food demonstrations, music, dance, a kid's play zone, prizes and kindness card creation stations. Amy Lacey from WRIC will serve as event host. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and teenagers and free for children up to age 12. Henrico Co. to present 31st annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration

Henrico County will present the 31st annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Celebration at 11:30 a.m. at Henrico High School, located at 302 Azalea Ave. The program, "The Legacy Continues," will feature music, speakers, community and service awards and more. Admission is free.
