Virginia Randolph to host first-annual Family Engagement Festival

The campus of Virginia Randolph will host its first-annual Family Engagement Festival at the Walmart on Nine Mile Road. The event will feature information about the school's CTE programs, a free book giveaway, music, food, family fun and more.

 

Lifepoint Church Richmond to host Trunk or Treat

Lifepoint Church Richmond will host a free Trunk or Treat event for the community immediately following the 11:30 a.m. service at Glen Allen High School, 10700 Staples Mill Rd. Central Virginia Celtic Festival and Highland Games planned at Richmond Raceway

The Central Virginia Celtic Festival and Highland Games will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Richmond Raceway Complex. Competitions include fiddle, harp, highland dance, piping, drumming and Gaelic song, as well as heavy athletics and hurling. The Fighting Jamesons, Albannach and others will perform. The Vendor Village will be selling jewelry, traditional Celtic food, pottery and kilts. Whisky tastings (additional fee) include instruction and an interactive session on the proper way to nose and taste single malt Scotch whisky. Children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and trick or treat with the various clans in attendance. Toastmasters District 66 invites corporate executives to a morning of education about Toastmasters International and a presentation by Cathy Lewis, host of Hampton Roads’ public radio program “Hearsay” on WHRV-FM. Lewis will speak on “Leadership Language in an Uncivil World” and she will share her mission to convince businesses that they have the capacity and the obligation to help change the contentious conversational landscape in America today.
