Henrico Pops Chorus to present “A Holiday Concert (sort of)” at Henrico Theatre

The Henrico Pops Chorus will present “A Holiday Concert (sort of)” at 7:30 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre in Highland Springs. This holiday program will take the audience through the process of preparing for a concert – the rehearsal, a party at home and the concert. Musical selections include variations on some familiar traditional holiday songs, ethnic and current interpretations for the season and several offerings new to local holiday concerts. All ages. This musical performance contains all the joy, sentiment and meaning of the classic story and is suitable for all ages. Tickets are $12. Innsbrook Executives’ Breakfast Series continues at Richmond Marriott Short Pump

The Innsbrook Executives’ Breakfast Series continues at 7:15 a.m. at the Richmond Marriott Short Pump, 4240 Dominion Blvd. The guest speaker will be William A. Hazel, Jr., MD, secretary of health and human resources for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Hazel currently oversees 11 state agencies with more than 16,000 employees. Prior to his appointment, Hazel spent 22 years as an orthopedic surgeon in Herndon. Cost is $25 to $30. The series continues on the third Thursday of every month. Henrico County Public Schools officials will discuss the division's efforts to enhance and improve student achievement during a town hall meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Varina High School. The number of fully accredited Henrico County schools rose to 48 this year, up from 45 last year, but seven Henrico schools were denied accreditation by the Virginia Department of Education. HCPS officials will discuss how the division is making gains and working toward its goal of full accreditation for all schools. Full text
