Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition to hold 2nd annual golf tournament at The Crossings Golf Course

The Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition will hold its second annual golf tournament at The Crossings Golf Course in Glen Allen. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $100 per person and includes green fee and cart, range balls, silent auction, post-round cookout and awards presentation. The Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition’s mission is to promote health and wellness in Henrico County with a primary focus on reducing youth substance abuse.

 

The Latin Ballet of Virginia to present “MOMO” at CACGA June 2-4

The Latin Ballet of Virginia will present “MOMO” at 7 p.m. June 2 and at 2 p.m. June 3-4 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Based on the fantasy novel by Michael Ende (author of “The NeverEnding Story”), “MOMO” is about a little girl who saves the world from the time thieves by her special ability to listen. 2017 Central Virginia Corks & Taps Festival planned in Innsbrook

The 2017 Central Virginia Corks & Taps Festival will take place rain or shine from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Innsbrook Pavilion. This year’s event will showcase 10 wineries and seven craft breweries and cideries from around the Commonwealth, live music, food and beverage concessions, specialty-item and arts and crafts vendors and more. Proceeds will benefit the general scholarship and endowment funds for the Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. As part of the 2016-17 Bryan Innovation Lab Visiting Innovators Program, The Steward School is hosting Leah Buechley, an inventor and educator in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) movement. The program is “Beautiful Technology: Blending high tech with traditional craft to bring programming off of our screens and into our hands.” While on campus, Ms. Buechley will participate in activities that are free and open to the Richmond community, including an afternoon Maker Fair and an evening lecture and discussion. Participants will learn about cutting-edge tools and future trends of interactive wearable technology. Buechley will share her insights as a female entrepreneur developing products that are accessible to anyone interested in designing and building their own inventions.
