Henrico Theatre Company to present “Driving Miss Daisy” Sept. 15 to Oct. 1 at CACGA

The Henrico Theatre Company will present “Driving Miss Daisy” Sept. 15 to Oct. 1 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Taking place in the deep South in 1948 just prior to the civil rights movement, this is a warmhearted, humorous and affecting study of the unlikely relationship between an aging, crotchety white Southern lady and a proud, soft-spoken black man. All performances are at 8 p.m. except for Sunday matinees which start at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors (55+) and students. Leland Melvin to discuss memoir ‘Chasing Space’ at UR’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies

As part of its 25th anniversary, the University of Richmond’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies welcomes back 2008–09 Leader-in-Residence Leland Melvin, ’86, for a discussion of his new memoir, "Chasing Space: An Astronaut’s Story of Grit, Grace, and Second Chances." "Chasing Space" traces the former NASA astronaut and NFL wide receiver’s “personal journey from the gridiron to the stars.” The event, which is free and open to the public, starts at 6 p.m. A book signing and reception will follow.
