Route 5 Corridor Coalition to celebrate launch of new website at Urban Farmhouse

The Route 5 Corridor Coalition will celebrate the launch of their newly designed website, http://www.route5va.org, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Urban Farmhouse in Rocketts Landing, 4821 Old Main St. There will be a cash bar.

 

Highland Springs UMC to hold its first Highland Springs Family Fun Fest

Highland Springs United Methodist Church will hold its first Highland Springs Family Fun Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be games and prizes for children of all ages, a bounce house, basketball contests, cake walks and more. Live music will be performed by Bobby & Friends. Meet the Henrico Police and Fire units. Lunch begins at 12 p.m. The church is located at 22 N. Holly Ave. in Highland Springs.

 

Pocahontas Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society to meet at Echo Lake Park

The Pocahontas Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society will meet at 9 a.m. at Echo Lake Park. This small, scenic park offers a variety of habitats and a surprising diversity of native plants on a half-mile trail around the lake. Bring a light lunch for picnicking in the shade and telling flower stories. The Plants of the James River Project will present “The Art of Invasion,” a family-friendly event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the James River Park System headquarters. Learn about invasive versus native plants; participate in guided walks and art activities; and make leaf rubbings and paper from invasive weeds. The headquarters building is located at the Reedy Creek Canoe Access, 4001 Riverside Dr. Park and walk through the Reedy Creek parking area. Cross the railroad tracks, turn right, and continue to the HQ building on your left.
