Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will host October Oddities Oct. 1-31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Refresh your “garden spirit” with displays and activities for all ages throughout the month of October. Enjoy vignettes designed to provoke a sense of curiosity and wonder using underappreciated oddities of nature and “horti-torture.” Pick up a Gourd Quest at the admissions desk before heading down to the Children’s Garden. Included with regular admission which is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors 55+ and $8 for children 3-12. For details, visit

NCGR Richmond Chapter to present “The Progressed Moon” by Lynn Koiner

"The Progressed Moon" by Lynn Koiner is the focus of a workshop sponsored by the Richmond Chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR) at 1 p.m. at the Weinstein Jewish Community Center. Koiner will focus on the aspects made by the progressed Moon to natal and progressed planets; the Moon’s movement through the signs and houses as a cycle of emotional needs. Godwin High School to host T-Philly Birthday Bash Concert

Godwin High School will celebrate the life of Todd Phillips with the T-Philly Birthday Bash Concert at 7 p.m. Bands performing are Fordson Labs, GTC, Mis’Calculations, Open Late and TAP’d. The concert will benefit the Todd Phillips’ Memorial Fund, a fund set up by Phillips' family in his honor. The beloved teacher and director of Godwin's specialty center died in June. The Virginia Hemophilia Foundation will host the VHF Trick or Trot 5K and Fun Walk will start at 9 a.m. at Robious Landing Park. There will be a 5K course, a quick one mile route and the Monster Dash, a 100-yard fun run for kids 12 and under.
