Jewish Family Theatre to present “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” March 1-11

Jewish Family Theatre will present “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” March 1-11 at the Weinstein Jewish Community Center. Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble gum rock and rock ‘n roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless. Varina Library will host a Death Café from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Led by spiritual and bereavement counselor Alane Miles, a Death Café is a gathering during which attendees can discuss death and dying in a surprisingly upbeat and informative way. Ask questions about the often-taboo topics of death, dying, grief and funeral practices. St. Anthony’s to host 33rd annual Lebanese Food Festival May 19-21

The 33rd annual Lebanese Food Festival, hosted by St. Anthony’s Maronite Catholic Church, will be held on the church grounds next to Innsbrook at 4611 Sadler Rd. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 19-20 and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 21. There will be food, desserts and beverages, as well as live Lebanese music and traditional Lebanese folk dances. Henrico County and its Heroin Task Force will present a community summit on heroin and opioid abuse and addiction from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Glen Allen High School. FBI Director James B. Comey will be the keynote speaker. These potent, highly addictive drugs, which include prescription painkillers such as OxyContin and Vicodin, are threatening every community and segment of society, regardless of age or income. The summit will offer information from local community service providers and include a showing of “Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opioid Addict.” A panel discussion will follow.
