Henrico Theatre Company to present ‘Das Barbecü’ May 3-19 at CACGA

Henrico Theatre Company will present “Das Barbecü” May 3-19 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd. Wagner’s Ring Cycle is spun as a witty Texas fable with five actors playing more than 30 outrageous characters at breakneck speed. Songs run the gamut from Broadway to Texas swing, from jazz to country western. Thursday through Saturday performances are at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors age 55 and older. Crossroads Art Center to display artwork from VHBG students through June 17

Spirited Art Richmond held a painting class May 5 for Hanover Habitat for Humanity families to paint their own artwork as a final touch for their new homes. DRMD hopes to hit million-dollar mark

Deep Run High School’s 2013 Marathon Dance, a student-run function that aims to raise money for organizations around the community, will be held March 15-16 in the school’s gymnasium. In its seven-year history, the dance has raised more than $863,000, and this year the students’ goal is to break the $1 million mark. The event has progressed from a small dance in the high school gym to an event that brings the entire community together. > Read more.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
