Modlin Center for the Arts at UR to present “Henry and Mudge”

The Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond will present Theatreworks USA’s production of “Henry and Mudge” on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. in Alice Jepson Theatre. Moving from the city to a new house in the country can be tough. Just ask Henry, who can’t find a playmate in his new neighborhood. Luckily, he’s got Mudge, a great big, 182-pound canine buddy, with whom he can share all kinds of adventures! Based on the beloved children’s books by acclaimed author Cynthia Rylant. Art for the Journey to hold special art opening for OMA exhibit

Art for the Journey will hold a special art opening on Friday, May 6 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Mary's Woods Retirement Community, 1257 Marywood Ln. The event is for the Opening Minds Through Art program (OMA) exhibit that is on display May 2 through June 13. Art for the Journey is a Richmond nonprofit organization that promotes the well-being and healing of children and adults through creative expression, with a special focus on people who otherwise do not have such opportunities available. Come see how our OMA program is helping individuals in our community who have dementia to communicate through creating original pieces of visual art. Walking MADD


Mothers Against Drunk Driving will present its annual Walk Like MADD 5k Dash/Walk on Apr. 16 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Walk Like MADD honors those killed or injured in impaired driving crashes. FamFest planned for April 9


Henrico's Division of Recreation & Parks will host FamFest from 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Deep Run Park.

The family event will begin with a giant ball drop and will feature colossal obstacle courses and mega-moon bounces as well as family "minute to win it" games and friendly competitions. Watch as the nationally-renowned Air Elite Dunkers leap their way into spring in the gym or get your groove on with music from Trademark or the dance troupe Future Shock. > Read more.

Another great weekend of outdoor activities awaits you in Henrico! Walk MS, an annual charity run for multiple sclerosis, and the third annual Movin’ & Shakin’ 5K, to benefit the VCU Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center, both take place in Innsbrook tomorrow.
