CACGA to hold grand opening for its new exhibit “Hyperrealism: Beyond the Photograph”

The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will hold a grand opening for its new exhibit “Hyperrealism: Beyond the Photograph” by Sharon Guyton Lalik from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Lalik paints ordinary, everyday objects as if they themselves are one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Weinstein JCC, VCIC to present “Martin: His Life, His Love, His Legacy”

The Weinstein JCC, in partnership with the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, will present “Martin: His Life, His Love, His Legacy” at 3 p.m. The production, which was written by Richmonder Valerie Davis, explores the “real” life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., while also spotlighting the Jewish connection to the civil rights movement. A panel discussion follows the performance, moderated by VCIC President and CEO Jonathan Zur. Tickets are $15 for non-members and $10 for members. Modlin Center for the Arts at UR to present “Henry and Mudge”

The Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond will present Theatreworks USA’s production of “Henry and Mudge” on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. in Alice Jepson Theatre. Moving from the city to a new house in the country can be tough. Just ask Henry, who can’t find a playmate in his new neighborhood. Luckily, he’s got Mudge, a great big, 182-pound canine buddy, with whom he can share all kinds of adventures! Based on the beloved children’s books by acclaimed author Cynthia Rylant. Walking MADD


Mothers Against Drunk Driving will present its annual Walk Like MADD 5k Dash/Walk on Apr. 16 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Walk Like MADD honors those killed or injured in impaired driving crashes. FamFest planned for April 9


Henrico's Division of Recreation & Parks will host FamFest from 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Deep Run Park.

The family event will begin with a giant ball drop and will feature colossal obstacle courses and mega-moon bounces as well as family "minute to win it" games and friendly competitions. Weekend Top 10


Another great weekend of outdoor activities awaits you in Henrico! Walk MS, an annual charity run for multiple sclerosis, and the third annual Movin’ & Shakin’ 5K, to benefit the VCU Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center, both take place in Innsbrook tomorrow. Another charity event, the CASA Superhero Run, will be held at St. Joseph’s Villa. On Sunday, live music can be found at Belmont Recreation Center, featuring the John Winn Quartet, and at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, where pianist Sylvia Cooper will be performing.
