Henricus to host Discovery Days Program Series for children 3-10

Children ages 3-10 are invited to learn about 17th-century songs and games during the Henricus Discovery Days Program Series from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Henricus Historical Park. Lewis Ginter, Genworth to host ‘Genworth Free Community Day’ at the garden on Labor Day

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and Genworth will host Genworth Free Community Day at the garden on Labor Day, Sept. 5. All visitors will be admitted free between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Free admission includes music in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. under the tent in front of Bloemendaal House by The Heavy Hitter DJ Lonnie B, hosted by Kelli Lemon, presenting a mix of contemporary hip hop and R&B. This will be one of the last chances to see the Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks exhibit, which ends Sept. 18. Free admission also includes entrance to the Butterflies LIVE! exhibit and, for players of Pokemon Go, the Garden will be purchasing lures to increase the number of Pokemon at the Garden on Labor Day. The Garden is also partnering with the Lakeside Business Association as a collection site on this day for donations of school supplies benefiting Lakeside Elementary School. Henrico County has hosted a Fourth of July celebration annually since 1981, but this year’s event will offer a later start time and expanded hours and be highlighted by new entertainment.
