The Junior League of Richmond will present its 11th annual Touch a Truck event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Richmond International Raceway. This unique and interactive event allows children to see, touch and safely explore their favorite big trucks and heavy machinery, as well as to meet the personnel who protect, serve, and build the Richmond community. Vehicles on display include tractors, backhoes, emergency responders, utility trucks, and a helicopter. There will also be entertainment, food trucks, games, area mascots and more. Rain or shine. Gallmeyer Farms to host annual Fall Festival Oct. 1-2 at The Pumpkin Patch

Gallmeyer Farms will host its annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 1-2 at The Pumpkin Patch, 4506 Millers Ln. Pick-your-own and pre-picked pumpkins, as well as fresh fall vegetables, will be available. Henrico Humane Society, Henrico Rec & Parks to present annual ‘Bark in the Park’

Henrico Humane Society and Henrico Recreation and Parks will present the ninth annual Bark in the Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Pkwy. A 2K walk begins at 10:45 a.m. Registration is $25 for adults, $10 for kids age 6-12 and free for kids under six and dogs. All proceeds from the dog walk benefit HHS. Additional activities include a blessing of the animals, trick demonstrations by AJ’s K9’s, a parade of animals, dog contests, vendor fair, live music, pet adoptions, food and more. “Party on the Avenues” planned at intersection of Patterson, Libbie Avenues

NOVA of Virginia Aquatics to present 8th annual Short Pump Mile and Express

October 02 2016 - Location: Short Pump Town Center near American Family Fitness, 7:30 a.m., $15
NOVA of Virginia Aquatics will present the 8th annual C&F Bank/Mix 98.1 Short Pump Mile and Express Fun Run. The race will be held behind Short Pump Town Center near American Family Fitness, with the first heat starting at 7:30 a.m. This is Richmond’s largest timed youth road race. All participants will receive a race t-shirt, medal and refreshments. Awards will be given to age group and overall winners. The School Participation Competition, sponsored by Pediatric Dentistry of Virginia, will award the top five schools with the most participants a total of $2,000 to be used for their physical education programs. Free children’s clothing for those in need

The Children's Clothing Closet at Highland Springs United Methodist Church will be open Saturday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 30 to provide free new or nearly new children's clothing for families in need, prior to the start of the school year.
