Eastern Henrico Recreation Center will host “50s Dance: Remembering Tommy Edwards” from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dance the night away while paying tribute to Tommy Edwards and his multi-million selling song, “It’s All in the Game.” Edwards attended Virginia Randolph Training School and after his death in 1969, he was buried in Henrico at Quioccasin Baptist Church Cemetery. American Legion Post 125, located at 1401 Hilliard Rd., will hold a dance with a live band every Friday and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Snacks and coffee are provided; drinks are available for purchase. All dances are open to the public. Cost is $7 on Fridays and $8 on Saturdays and benefits American Legion Post 125, a nonprofit veterans organization. For details, call 716-0800.

VFMA, McShin Foundation to present 5th annual Bluegrass Concert/Benefit

The Virginia Folk Music Association and the McShin Foundation will present the fifth annual Bluegrass Concert/Benefit at Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, 2300 Dumbarton Rd. Architect of World Trade Center Memorial to speak in Henrico


Michael Arad, the architect of the World Trade Center Memorial, will be the keynote speaker for The 2016 Adolf-Adams JCC Forum on Sat., Jan. 30, 2016 at 7:30 p.m., at the Carole and Marcus Weinstein Jewish Community Center in Henrico.

Arad’s “Reflecting Absence” architectural design was selected from more than 5,000 competitive entries as the template for the Memorial’s construction in New York City. During the forum, Arad will discuss the significance and symbolism of the design, as well as his inspiration. Western Henrico Rotary Club makes Thanksgiving donation to Coal Pit families


Members of the Western Henrico Rotary Club (WHRC) celebrated Thanksgiving a few days early on Nov. 23, making their annual donation of turkey dinners to 28 Coal Pit Learning Center families.
