Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will present the Dominion GardenFest of Lights nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 29 to Jan. 13 (closed Dec. 24-25). This holiday tradition features more than half-a-million twinkling lights, hand-crafted botanical decorations, model trains, holiday dinners, family activities and more. This year’s theme is A Natural Love Affair. Admission is $11 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for children ages 3-12 and free for children under age three.

RIR to host its 10th annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

Richmond International Raceway, 600 E. Laburnum Ave., will host its 10th annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The festive evening includes an illumination of the track’s Christmas tree, music and fun for the entire family, as well as a visit from the jolly old elf. Local Henrico schools will also be participating. Attendees are encouraged to bring items for the Central Virginia Foodbank and the Marine Toys for Tots toy drive. In Varina, one of the most anticipated events of the season is approaching. The 19th Annual Big Toy Parade will return on Dec 14, offering a “homey,” small-town feel that helps elicit holiday spirit among participants and spectators alike.
The parade, which begins at 3 p.m., is sponsored by the Battlefield Ruritans and Henrico County Parks and Recreation and is held in conjunction with the James River Boat Parade.
