Friends of the Glen Allen Library to hold book sale June 23-24

Friends of the Glen Allen Library will hold its Biggest Book Sale Ever from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 23-24. A variety of over 5,000 well-sorted books, DVDs and CDs for all ages will be on sale at prices ranging from $0.25 to $2. Highlights include over 750 books pertaining to history/politics/military and over 750 children’s books. A special collection of unique, antique and rare items will also be offered at slightly higher prices. Cash preferred but checks accepted. Bring your own shopping bag. “Trades of Antiquity at Henricus” planned at Henricus Historical Park

Henricus Historical Park and the South East Virginia Primitive Skills Group will present “Trades of Antiquity at Henricus” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. See demonstrations of life skills and trades from the pre-contact and Colonial eras in Virginia such as flint knapping, fire starting, wood turning, broom weaving, soap making, trapping, hide prep and blacksmithing. Sacred Heart Catholic Church to hold its 9th annual Latino Festival

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 1400 Perry St. in Richmond’s Manchester neighborhood, will hold its 9th annual Latino Festival from noon to 10 p.m. The street festival celebrates the vibrant Latin culture of many of the parish families from Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Cuba and other Central and South American countries. Highlights include authentic cuisine, live entertainment, a performance by students of The Latin Ballet, raffle prizes, bounce houses and face painting for children, a mechanical bull ride for adults and the popular Miss Reinita contest for girls aged 6-11. CAT Theatre to hold auditions for “Baskerville (a Sherlock Holmes Mystery)” June 25-26

Director Jessica Dotson is seeking four males and one female to star in this comedic fast-action play. The male heirs of the Baskerville line are being dispatched one by one. CAT Theatre, 319 N. Wilkinson Rd., will launch its new kids’ camp, “KIT’NS: Kids In Theatre ‘N Stagecraft,” from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 26-30. Campers will learn theatre games and the rudiments of stage combat, explore several dramatic styles, learn costume and stage design and will perform for family and friends in the evening of the final day of camp. Additional camps will be held July 10-14 and July 31 to Aug. 4. While the structure and activities will be the same, each camp is unique. For ages 8-14.
