Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will present Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks May 27 to Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Created with half-a-million LEGO bricks, the award-winning exhibit by New York artist Sean Kenney will feature 27 sculptures in 14 displays throughout the Garden including a 60-pound bumblebee, dragonfly with a 3.5-foot wingspan and a seven-foot tall red rose. Bifocals at CAT Theatre will hold auditions for the 2016-17 season at 10 a.m. on Aug. 22; noon on Aug. 23; and 2 p.m. on Aug. 24 at CAT Theatre, 319 North Wilkinson Road, Henrico.

Directors Una Harrison, Cindy Yuoconis, Michelle Black and H. Lynn Smith are looking for men and women 50 and older to fill a total of 21 roles in four one-act light-hearted plays. Actors can choose to prepare a one- to two-minute monologue and/or to read from the scripts. Actors are paid.

Bifocals at CAT Theatre, a troupe of senior actors, tours the greater Richmond area taking live theatre to senior centers where residents and participants might otherwise not have an opportunity to see live performances.

County plans Fourth of July event


Henrico County Recreation and Parks will present “Red, White, and Lights” at Meadow Farm Museum/Crump Park July 4.

Henrico County has hosted a Fourth of July celebration annually since 1981, but this year’s event will offer a later start time and expanded hours and be highlighted by new entertainment.

The free event will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will feature the Richmond Symphony, a laser-light show, patriotic performances, and family activities. > Read more.
