Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will present the Dominion GardenFest of Lights nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 29 to Jan. 13 (closed Dec. 24-25). This holiday tradition features more than half-a-million twinkling lights, hand-crafted botanical decorations, model trains, holiday dinners, family activities and more. This year’s theme is A Natural Love Affair. Admission is $11 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for children ages 3-12 and free for children under age three.

“Illumina,” a holiday decorated tree display, will begin at 5 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd. In Varina, one of the most anticipated events of the season is approaching. The 19th Annual Big Toy Parade will return on Dec 14, offering a “homey,” small-town feel that helps elicit holiday spirit among participants and spectators alike.
The parade, which begins at 3 p.m., is sponsored by the Battlefield Ruritans and Henrico County Parks and Recreation and is held in conjunction with the James River Boat Parade.
