Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will present Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks May 27 to Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Created with half-a-million LEGO bricks, the award-winning exhibit by New York artist Sean Kenney will feature 27 sculptures in 14 displays throughout the Garden including a 60-pound bumblebee, dragonfly with a 3.5-foot wingspan and a seven-foot tall red rose. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and Genworth will host Genworth Free Community Day at the garden on Labor Day, Sept. 5. All visitors will be admitted free between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Free admission includes music in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. under the tent in front of Bloemendaal House by The Heavy Hitter DJ Lonnie B, hosted by Kelli Lemon, presenting a mix of contemporary hip hop and R&B. This will be one of the last chances to see the Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks exhibit, which ends Sept. 18. Free admission also includes entrance to the Butterflies LIVE! exhibit and, for players of Pokemon Go, the Garden will be purchasing lures to increase the number of Pokemon at the Garden on Labor Day. The Garden is also partnering with the Lakeside Business Association as a collection site on this day for donations of school supplies benefiting Lakeside Elementary School.
