The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will hold a grand opening for its new exhibit “Hyperrealism: Beyond the Photograph” by Sharon Guyton Lalik from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Lalik paints ordinary, everyday objects as if they themselves are one-of-a-kind masterpieces. Henrico East Rotary Club to host ‘Rockin’ with Rotary’ at The John Marshall Hotel

The Henrico East Rotary Club will host Rockin’ with Rotary from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. at The John Marshall Hotel. Tickets are a $100 donation and admits two to the gala. “Lines of Purpose: Astrology of Place” by Philip Young is the focus of a workshop sponsored by the Richmond Chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR) at 1 p.m. at the Weinstein JCC. Young will explore the technique of Astro*Carto*Graphy, the astrology of location and relocation, which indicates best places for a permanent move, business or vacation travel, and the effect of relationships and family (when people have to move together). VA Department of Forestry to present workshop on tree science

To celebrate Arbor Day, the Virginia Department of Forestry will present a two-hour course on tree science, leaf identification, pests, tree care, how landscape position favors certain trees and more. Participants will receive tree seedlings and tree identification pamphlets to take home. Cost is $10. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Three Lakes Nature Center. Lakeside Avenue will present the bike festival Pedal & Gears starting at 9:30 a.m. The event will begin with a free family-friendly bike ride hosted by Bike Walk Northside. Riders should gather at 9 a.m. in front of the businesses on MacArthur Avenue in the Bellevue neighborhood. The ride is approximately 2.5 miles, traveling through Bryan Park and ultimately ending at the heart of the festival activities at the Lakeside Farmer's Market. 7th annual CASA Superhero Run planned at St. Joseph’s Villa

April 30 2016 - All participants are encouraged to run in the costume of a favorite superhero character, 9 a.m.,
The Henrico County and Chesterfield County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) organizations will hold the seventh annual Superhero Run to support local programs for abused and neglected children. The event, which includes a 5K, a Kids’ Fun Run and a post-race fair, will be held at St. Joseph’s Villa. All participants are encouraged to run in the costume of a favorite superhero character. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and top finishers. Activities will begin with the Kids’ Fun Run at 9 a.m., followed by the 5K race at 9:30 a.m. and a post-race fair. Mothers Against Drunk Driving will present its annual Walk Like MADD 5k Dash/Walk on Apr. 16 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. Henrico's Division of Recreation & Parks will host FamFest from 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Deep Run Park.
