Part One of Henrico’s Ambassador Program for Seniors (HAPS) will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, 1440 N. Laburnum Ave. (HAPS) is a free, bi-annual program open to adults 55 or older. The program is broken into two parts and is designed to give residents the tools they need to navigate services for older adults in Henrico. Part Two will be held at the same time and location on Oct. 11. Both programs feature different speakers. Participants must have their own transportation. UR Modlin Center to present ‘Top Girls’ Oct. 5-8 in Cousins Studio Theatre

Henricus to host open house introducing new adult group programs in 2018

Henrico County, GRTC to conduct series of public meetings on transit service changes

Henrico County, in partnership with GRTC, is conducting a series of three Public Meetings to present recommended changes to transit service in Henrico County and to seek input from the public. Portions of Henrico County’s GRTC service will need to be adjusted to better connect with the upcoming Pulse BRT service and planned changes in the City of Richmond’s transit network. Meetings will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations: Oct. 5 – Libbie Mill Library; Oct. 16 – Eastern Henrico Recreation Center; and Nov. 2 – Tuckahoe Library. Eastern Henrico Ruritan Club to hold Turkey Shoot every Friday at Glen Echo Ball Field

CACGA to present An Evening of 20s-40s Jazz featuring Antique Melody Show

The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen’s 2nd Stage season continues with An Evening of 20s-40s Jazz featuring Antique Melody Show at 7 p.m. AMS is a nostalgic journey into early-American, post-parlor era music that laid the groundwork for speakeasy and lounge divas of the 1920s, 30s and 40s, such as Annette Henshaw, Billie Holiday and Ruth Etting. AMS also touts a few original tunes reminiscent of the same genre. CACGA’s 2nd Stage series highlights a different musical genre monthly on Fridays. Tickets are $17 to $21. The 20th annual Benefit Dinner for the Comboni Missionary Sisters will be held at 6 p.m. at Jefferson Lakeside Country Club, 1700 Lakeside Ave. There will also be a silent auction. The Comboni Missionary Sisters are celebrating 67 years of service in the Richmond area. Proceeds from the dinner and auction will be for the Scholarship Endowment Fund for the Comboni Missionary Sisters education in the United States. Full text
