“Red, White, and Lights” Fourth of July Celebration planned at Meadow Farm

Henrico County Recreation and Parks will present “Red, White, and Lights” at Meadow Farm Museum/Crump Park. The free event begins at 4:30 p.m. and will feature the Richmond Symphony, a laser-light show, patriotic performances, and family activities. A Henrico County 4th of July Celebration has taken place annually since 1981, but this year’s event will offer a later start time, expanded hours, and be highlighted by new entertainment. The Richmond Symphony and laser-light show will mark the finale of the event. The symphony will perform under “The Big Tent,” a state-of-the-art mobile stage that allows the orchestra to take its music out into the local communities. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will host its annual CarMax Free Fourth of July celebration from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All visitors will receive free admission throughout the day. Activities in the Children’s Garden from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. include live music and a parade around the Children’s Garden at 2 p.m. Guests are invited to wear red, white and blue and decorate wagons and strollers. The Virginia Home for Boys & Girls Youth Triathlon will take place Aug. 20 at VHBG, 8716 W. Broad St. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. with the first wave (for ages 5-9) kicking off at 8 a.m. Family Fun Day activities start at 9 a.m. and include pool, bounce house, dunk tank, DJ/karaoke, bubble soccer and food trucks. An optional four-day Youth Triathlon Camp will be held Monday, Aug. 15 to Thursday, Aug. 18. All proceeds benefit the children at VHBG. Race fee donation includes race, t-shirt and post-race snacks. Tuckahoe YMCA to host Refugee Community Resource Fair


The Tuckahoe Family YMCA and ReEstablish Richmond will host the third-annual Refugee Community Resource Fair Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at the YMCA, 9211 Patterson Avenue in Henrico. The event is designed to provide refugees in the region information about jobs, local businesses, housing, health care, education and more.
