Richmond-area children will be able to receive dental treatments at no cost during Sharing Smiles Day, an annual day of free dental care hosted by children’s dental provider Kool Smiles. Available treatments will include dental exams, limited emergency care, extractions, and restorative care. A limited number of appointments are available. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach which promptly rolls into the ocean and launches him on a journey of enormous proportions. The 4th annual Basketball Skill Development Academy returns to Varina High School June 19-22. The camp, directed by Coach Andrew Lacey, Varina’s head men’s basketball coach, is for rising third through ninth graders (ages 7-15). The academy will focus on individual player development, teamwork, court awareness, basketball knowledge and sportsmanship. Campers will be divided into different divisions and will compete within their own division unless otherwise requested. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Tuition is $60. Fifth annual Youth Triathlon planned at Va. Home for Boys and Girls

The fifth annual Youth Triathlon, presented by Endorphin Fitness, will take place at 8 a.m. at the Virginia Home for Boys and Girls, 8716 West Broad St. The race is open to ages 5-14 and features a short pool swim, loop bike course closed to vehicular traffic, and a run on level playing fields. An optional four-day youth triathlon camp will precede the event, taking place Aug. 14-17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Participants will be taught essential skills of the sport in a safe, fun environment. Cost of the camp is $95. All proceeds from the event will benefit the children at VHBG. Highland Springs Community Softball Game will be held from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Highland Springs High School. Sign up as a team or community teams will be formed.
