NCGR Richmond Chapter to present “Lines of Purpose: Astrology of Place”

“Lines of Purpose: Astrology of Place” by Philip Young is the focus of a workshop sponsored by the Richmond Chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR) at 1 p.m. at the Weinstein JCC. Young will explore the technique of Astro*Carto*Graphy, the astrology of location and relocation, which indicates best places for a permanent move, business or vacation travel, and the effect of relationships and family (when people have to move together). VA Department of Forestry to present workshop on tree science

April 30 2016 - Three Lakes Nature Center, 10 a.m., $10
To celebrate Arbor Day, the Virginia Department of Forestry will present a two-hour course on tree science, leaf identification, pests, tree care, how landscape position favors certain trees and more. Participants will receive tree seedlings and tree identification pamphlets to take home. Cost is $10. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Three Lakes Nature Center. SBA Offers Boots to Business: Reboot Trainings May 2-3

May 02 2016 - Small Business Startup Training for Veterans and Spouses, 9 a.m., Free
The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Richmond District Office has announced an upcoming “Boots to Business: Reboot” training opportunity on May 2-3 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The entrepreneurship training, for veterans and their spouses, is a two-day course introducing business ownership fundamentals.

During the events, participants learn the key steps of evaluating business concepts and developing a business plan. The program introduces veterans and their spouses to a network of lifetime business support available through SBA’s network, including Veteran Business Outreach Centers, Small Business Development Centers and SCORE Counselors.

Walking MADD


Mothers Against Drunk Driving will present its annual Walk Like MADD 5k Dash/Walk on Apr. 16 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Walk Like MADD honors those killed or injured in impaired driving crashes. FamFest planned for April 9


Henrico's Division of Recreation & Parks will host FamFest from 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Deep Run Park.

The family event will begin with a giant ball drop and will feature colossal obstacle courses and mega-moon bounces as well as family "minute to win it" games and friendly competitions. Another great weekend of outdoor activities awaits you in Henrico! Walk MS, an annual charity run for multiple sclerosis, and the third annual Movin’ & Shakin’ 5K, to benefit the VCU Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center, both take place in Innsbrook tomorrow. Another charity event, the CASA Superhero Run, will be held at St. Joseph’s Villa.
