Gayle Turner, senior consultant with Catch Your Limit, will sell his extensive library of 1,000+ novels and books on theater, film, business, religion, architecture and philosophy from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the offices of Strategy Café, 2421 Westwood Ave. in Henrico. Bookshelves will also be sold.

Sierra Club Falls of the James Group to host annual ‘BIG Yard Sale’ at UR

May 18 2013 - Departing students are selling household items, electronics, clothing and more, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.,
The Sierra Club Falls of the James Group will host the annual “BIG Yard Sale” from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Millhiser Gym at the University of Richmond. The sale brings together Sierra Club volunteers with UR’s departing students to divert their household items from the landfill. Items for sale include furniture, electronics, kitchen equipment, linens and towels, rugs, TVs, clothing and more. Proceeds benefit Sierra Club Falls of the James Group, the UR Green student group and Goodwill. For details, call Jane Hotchkiss at 355-4836.

Spirit of Habitat

Spirited Art Richmond held a painting class May 5 for Hanover Habitat for Humanity families to paint their own artwork as a final touch for their new homes. Among first-time homeowners painting The Klimt Circle tree (which doubles as a ‘family tree’) were (left to right) Janet Payne, Gwen Stockman of Hanover Habitat and Payne’s daughter, Ashley Payne. DRMD hopes to hit million-dollar mark

Deep Run High School’s 2013 Marathon Dance, a student-run function that aims to raise money for organizations around the community, will be held March 15-16 in the school’s gymnasium. In its seven-year history, the dance has raised more than $863,000, and this year the students’ goal is to break the $1 million mark. The event has progressed from a small dance in the high school gym to an event that brings the entire community together. > Read more.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
