The Advanced Career Education Center at Hermitage High School will hold a plant sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 3 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 4. The sale features a large selection of annuals, perennials, herbs and vegetables. Included are peppers, cucumbers, corn, watermelon, squash, asparagus and many varieties of tomato. Plant prices are: four packs $1.75; 3.5-inch pots $1; 4.5-inch pots $3; 6.5-inch pots $5; gallon perennials $8; 10-inch hanging baskets $10; 12-inch premium hanging baskets $15; and other plant prices vary. The Advanced Career Education Center at Hermitage is located at 8301 Hungary Spring Rd.

The Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Spring PlantFest will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 6 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7. The Garden’s plant sales are among the largest in the region with vendors selling plants ranging from well-known favorites to rare exotics. Mothers Against Drunk Driving will present its annual Walk Like MADD 5k Dash/Walk on Apr. 16 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Walk Like MADD honors those killed or injured in impaired driving crashes.
