Learn about historical ladies’ fashions at 2:30 p.m. at Meadow Farm Museum, 3400 Mountain Rd. Four generations of the Sheppard wives lived in the current farmhouse. Learn about these women and see how the styles changed as each generation became mistress of Meadow Farm. Costumed interpreters will model examples from each generation 1810-1920. Admission is free. Henricus Historical Park and Discover the James will offer a 45-minute history and nature tour aboard the Discovery Barge II, a covered 24-foot pontoon boat, at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Excursions will feature local wildlife and 17th century through modern day history at Henricus and Dutch Gap. Raiders help ‘Stir It Up!’

Spirited Art Richmond held a painting class May 5 for Hanover Habitat for Humanity families to paint their own artwork as a final touch for their new homes. Among first-time homeowners painting The Klimt Circle tree (which doubles as a ‘family tree’) were (left to right) Janet Payne, Gwen Stockman of Hanover Habitat and Payne’s daughter, Ashley Payne. Veteran restaurateur set to open in Short Pump

Tran’s Pho 1 Grill will serve Vietnamese fare
After nearly a year out of the restaurant industry, a well known 30-year Henrico restaurateur is ready to open up his fifth venture in Short Pump.

Paul Tran, along with his wife Ellen will open up Pho 1 Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant, in June in the Towne Center West Shopping Center.

Tran has been serving up Vietnamese food since the mid-’80s, his first being Que Huong on Rigsby Road. He also owned Mr. Chan’s on Horsepen Road and Saigon Gourmet on Hull Street Road. > Read more.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
