Connor’s Heroes to host sixth annual Heroes Art Ball at SMV

Connor’s Heroes will host the sixth annual Heroes Art Ball at 7 p.m. at the Science Museum of Virginia. An average of 100 children come to Richmond for treatment for pediatric cancer every year and the Heroes Art Ball raises the money Connor's Heroes needs to offer support to these families. Proceeds from the Heroes Art Ball fund Heroes Bags and Backpacks, Heroes Art Sessions, and bone marrow transplant support. Money raised will also support The Connor's Heroes Pediatric Cancer Research Fund at VCU Massey Cancer Center. The evening starts with champagne and food from Champagne Taste. March of Dimes’ annual March for Babies event planned in Innsbrook

The March of Dimes’ annual March for Babies event will start at 10 a.m. in Innsbrook’s North Shore Commons at 4951 Lake Brook Dr. The 2.5-mile walk helps more moms have healthy pregnancies, supports families in the NICU, and funds research to fight premature birth and birth defects. Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition to host first annual golf tournament

May 13 2016 - The Crossings Golf Club in Glen Allen, 11 a.m., $100 per person
The Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition will host its first annual golf tournament on Friday, May 13 at The Crossings Golf Club in Glen Allen. The golf outing will be a four-person scramble format and include prizes for the winning teams. The day will conclude with a post-round cookout and awards presentation.

Registration starts at 11 a.m. with putting practice and range balls at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $100 per person and includes green fee and cart, prize drawing and range balls. Register online at http://www.toosmart2start.com

The Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition’s mission is to promote health and wellness in Henrico County with a primary focus on reducing youth substance abuse. The proceeds from this event will directly support environmental strategies and programs that benefit the youth and at-risk citizens of Henrico County.

Henrico HS to host 1st annual Warrior Fund Golf Tournament in Glen Allen

June 11 2016 - In memory of Sheridan DeShawn Fuller, a 2015 graduate of HHS who died in October, 8 a.m., $75
Henrico High School will host the first-annual "Building the Dream Scholarship and Warrior Fund Golf Tournament" June 11 at The Crossings Golf Course in Glen Allen. The event will be held in memory of is a tax exempt 501 (c 3) foundation. The tournament is held in memory of Sheridan DeShawn Fuller, a 2015 graduate of Henrico High School, who died in October from leukemia.

Last year with the help of many contributors, the nonprofit foundation created to award the scholarships gave 14 scholarships worth $250 apiece to college- bound seniors who overcame major obstacles and challenges in their academic and personal lives.

After witnessing the success of this scholarship, school administrators sought to double the number and amount of the scholarships this year.

Registration for the golf tournament is $75 for an individual, $280 for a foursome or $25 per person for lunch only. Sponsorships are available at amounts ranging from $100 to $5,000. The event will begin at 8 a.m., June 11.

The Virginia Home for Boys & Girls Youth Triathlon will take place Aug. 20 at VHBG, 8716 W. Broad St. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. with the first wave (for ages 5-9) kicking off at 8 a.m. Family Fun Day activities start at 9 a.m. and include pool, bounce house, dunk tank, DJ/karaoke, bubble soccer and food trucks. An optional four-day Youth Triathlon Camp will be held Monday, Aug. 15 to Thursday, Aug. 18. All proceeds benefit the children at VHBG. Race fee donation includes race, t-shirt and post-race snacks. Mothers Against Drunk Driving will present its annual Walk Like MADD 5k Dash/Walk on Apr. 16 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Walk Like MADD honors those killed or injured in impaired driving crashes. FamFest planned for April 9


Henrico's Division of Recreation & Parks will host FamFest from 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Deep Run Park.

The family event will begin with a giant ball drop and will feature colossal obstacle courses and mega-moon bounces as well as family "minute to win it" games and friendly competitions.
