Connor’s Heroes to host sixth annual Heroes Art Ball at SMV

Connor’s Heroes will host the sixth annual Heroes Art Ball at 7 p.m. at the Science Museum of Virginia. An average of 100 children come to Richmond for treatment for pediatric cancer every year and the Heroes Art Ball raises the money Connor's Heroes needs to offer support to these families. Proceeds from the Heroes Art Ball fund Heroes Bags and Backpacks, Heroes Art Sessions, and bone marrow transplant support. Money raised will also support The Connor's Heroes Pediatric Cancer Research Fund at VCU Massey Cancer Center. The evening starts with champagne and food from Champagne Taste. Henrico HS to host 1st annual Warrior Fund Golf Tournament in Glen Allen

Henrico High School will host the first-annual "Building the Dream Scholarship and Warrior Fund Golf Tournament" June 11 at The Crossings Golf Course in Glen Allen. The event will be held in memory of is a tax exempt 501 (c 3) foundation. The tournament is held in memory of Sheridan DeShawn Fuller, a 2015 graduate of Henrico High School, who died in October from leukemia.
Last year with the help of many contributors, the nonprofit foundation created to award the scholarships gave 14 scholarships worth $250 apiece to college- bound seniors who overcame major obstacles and challenges in their academic and personal lives.
After witnessing the success of this scholarship, school administrators sought to double the number and amount of the scholarships this year.
Registration for the golf tournament is $75 for an individual, $280 for a foursome or $25 per person for lunch only. Sponsorships are available at amounts ranging from $100 to $5,000. The event will begin at 8 a.m., June 11.
Virginia Home for Boys & Girls Youth Triathlon planned Aug. 20

The Virginia Home for Boys & Girls Youth Triathlon will take place Aug. 20 at VHBG, 8716 W. Broad St. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. with the first wave (for ages 5-9) kicking off at 8 a.m. Family Fun Day activities start at 9 a.m. and include pool, bounce house, dunk tank, DJ/karaoke, bubble soccer and food trucks. An optional four-day Youth Triathlon Camp will be held Monday, Aug. 15 to Thursday, Aug. 18. All proceeds benefit the children at VHBG. Race fee donation includes race, t-shirt and post-race snacks. Mothers Against Drunk Driving will present its annual Walk Like MADD 5k Dash/Walk on Apr. 16 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road. Check-in starts at 8 a.m. with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. Walk Like MADD honors those killed or injured in impaired driving crashes.
