31st annual Richmond Corporate Games planned Sept. 23-24 in Innsbrook

The 31st annual Richmond Corporate Games will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23 and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Dominion Soccer Fields at 5000 Dominion Dr. in Glen Allen. Companies from around Richmond will face-off over a two-day period to showcase their determination and teamwork outside of the workplace. RVA Tour de Cure Family Fun Ride, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes planned in Innsbrook

The 2016 RVA Tour de Cure Family Fun Ride and Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes will be held at the Innsbrook Pavilion starting at 6 a.m. The RVA Tour de Cure Family Fun Ride is a 10 mile route through Innsbrook and nearby neighborhoods with the option to do a loop to get to 20 miles. There is also a 5K Step Out Walk, wellness expo, food, live entertainment, kid’s activities and more. The event raises funds for education, programs, research and advocacy, and to recognize, highlight and empower those living every day with diabetes while raising awareness surrounding diabetes. ‘Pleasure Garden’ at Walkerton Tavern to benefit Meadow Farm

To aid in raising funds for the construction of a period kitchen building at the Meadow Farm Living History Museum, the Friends of Meadow Farm and the Henrico County Historical Society will recreate a Pleasure Garden at Walkerton Tavern from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The pleasure garden was an early form of a London amusement park – a place for an evening of outdoor entertainment with manicured walks and fountains, refreshments, concerts and exotic street entertainers. Fairfield Ruritan Club to host BBQ chicken dinner at Antioch School Community Center

The Fairfield Ruritan Club will host a barbecue chicken dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Antioch School Community Center, 5650 Elko Rd. in Sandston. The dinner includes half a barbecue chicken, potatoes, beans, bread, a beverage and dessert for $9 for adults. Meals for children 12 and younger are $5. Eat-in or take-out. Proceeds benefit the club and will be used to assist members of the community.

Henrico Humane Society, Henrico Rec & Parks to present annual ‘Bark in the Park’

Henrico Humane Society and Henrico Recreation and Parks will present the ninth annual Bark in the Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Pkwy. A 2K walk begins at 10:45 a.m. Registration is $25 for adults, $10 for kids age 6-12 and free for kids under six and dogs. All proceeds from the dog walk benefit HHS. Additional activities include a blessing of the animals, trick demonstrations by AJ’s K9’s, a parade of animals, dog contests, vendor fair, live music, pet adoptions, food and more. Free children’s clothing for those in need

The Children's Clothing Closet at Highland Springs United Methodist Church will be open Saturday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 30 to provide free new or nearly new children's clothing for families in need, prior to the start of the school year.
