Henrico Police to offer rabies vaccines for dogs, cats at Western Government Center

May 18 2013 - A rabies tag and certificate of inoculation are included, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., $10
The Henrico County Division of Police will offer rabies vaccines for dogs and cats from 9 a.m. to noon at the Henrico County Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Rd. The clinic will be on the first level of the parking deck adjacent to the Administration Building. The shots cost $10 and must be paid for in cash. A rabies tag and certificate of inoculation are included. Pets from all localities are welcome. Henrico dog licenses will also be available. For details, call 727-8801.

Mirror Mode Movement 3M Walk, Women’s Health Fair at Eastern Henrico Rec Center

May 18 2013 - Motivate, Move & Make it happen!, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., $25
The Mirror Mode Movement 3M Walk and Women’s Health Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center, 1440 N. Laburnum Ave. The 3M is hoping to unite girls and women and help put a stop to bullying, jealousy, hate, cliques and crime, while also providing women’s health awareness. Women’s groups, mentoring organizations, health clubs, beauty shops, corporate offices, families and sororities are invited. There will be a women's forum with Dr. Johnson-Threat and Kimberly Pinna, RN from Bon Secours Hospitals. Walgreens will be conducting free health screenings. Spirited Art Richmond held a painting class May 5 for Hanover Habitat for Humanity families to paint their own artwork as a final touch for their new homes. Among first-time homeowners painting The Klimt Circle tree (which doubles as a ‘family tree’) were (left to right) Janet Payne, Gwen Stockman of Hanover Habitat and Payne’s daughter, Ashley Payne. DRMD hopes to hit million-dollar mark

Deep Run High School’s 2013 Marathon Dance, a student-run function that aims to raise money for organizations around the community, will be held March 15-16 in the school’s gymnasium. In its seven-year history, the dance has raised more than $863,000, and this year the students’ goal is to break the $1 million mark. The event has progressed from a small dance in the high school gym to an event that brings the entire community together. > Read more.

Popular Short Pump spot offers upscale comfort, flavors
The Wine Loft opened in West Broad Village in January 2010, offering a full bar with wine, beer, spirits and a kitchen with tapas-style snacks. It offers a seasonal patio area along Whittall Way. Its walk-in wine “humidor” in plain view from the bar offers more than 85 wines by the glass ($6-$65) and about 250 by the bottle ($28 and up), with some emphasis on Italian wines.
