Henrico Schools seeks budget input for FY 2016-17

Henrico County Public Schools is seeking input from interested members of the public on the FY 2016-17 HCPS budget.

The school division will develop a budget proposal using feedback from stakeholders. The proposal will then be made public in January, followed by an extensive public review process that is expected to last through April.

There will be opportunities in November and December for input on the budget at Henrico public libraries and at the monthly meeting of the Henrico School Board. For a complete timeline of the budget process, visit http://henricoschools.us/budget-finance/
Budget stakeholder meetings will be held:

• Thursday, Nov. 5, 6:30 p.m. – Tuckahoe Area Library, 1901 Starling Drive, Henrico 23229;

• Monday, Nov. 16, 6:30 p.m. – Twin Hickory Area Library, 5001 Twin Hickory Road, Glen Allen 23059;

• Thursday, Nov. 19, 6:30 p.m. – Libbie Mill Library, 2100 Libbie Lake E. St., Henrico 23230;

• Wednesday, Dec. 2, 6:30 p.m. – Varina Branch Library, 2001 Library Road, Henrico 23231;

• Thursday, Dec. 3, 6:30 p.m. – Fairfield Area Library, 1001 N. Laburnum Ave., Henrico 23223.

2015-2016 Historical Awareness Project reception planned at Eastern Rec Center

The 2015-2016 Historical Awareness Project reception will be held at 7 p.m. at the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center. Sponsored by Henrico County Public Schools and the county's Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC), the reception honors fifth graders who have created displays and public service announcements relating to Henrico history; projects will be judged and on display at the reception.


The Rink to open at WBV Nov. 14

The grand opening of The Rink outdoor ice skating rink at West Broad Village will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, beginning at 11 a.m. with skating and family activities. At 4 p.m., grand opening festivities – featuring exhibitions of ice sculpting, ice skating and cheering, as well as fire pits, costumed characters, and food vendors – will begin. Skating costs are $8 for children and $10 for adults, with $4 skate rentals available. Parking is free. The Rink is located at 3939 Duckling Drive, Glen Allen. ‘Howl-o-ween’ to benefit Pawssible

Pawssible, a nonprofit organization that provides advocacy, resources and education for people who want a service dog, and Carytown Burgers and Fries are partnering for "Howl-o-ween" Oct. 31. All three Carytwon Burgers and Fries locations, including those in Lakeside (5404 Lakeside Avenue) and Short Pump (200 Towne Center West), will donate a portion of all sales that day to Pawssible. > Read more.
