The READ Center will hold new tutor training to become an Adult Literacy Tutor from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Ginter Park Library, 1200 Westbrook Ave. If you can read this, you can help someone who can’t. More than 65,000 adults in the Richmond metro area cannot read well enough to function in today’s society. The READ Center helps adults with low literacy skills (in Richmond, Henrico and Chesterfield) develop reading and communication skills through classroom and one-to-one tutoring. Moody Middle School to host third annual Moody Raider Golf Tournament

Moody Middle School’s third annual Moody Raider Golf Tournament, benefiting the PTA Raider Athletic Booster, will start at 8 a.m. at Belmont Golf Course. The cost is $65 for adults and $55 for students or children under the age of 18 and includes 18 holes of golf and cart, lunch provided by Bob Evans, one raffle ticket, goody bag and prizes for closest to pin and longest drive. The funds will help provide Moody’s 13 athletic teams with new equipment, uniforms, first aid supplies, and field maintenance. Registration deadline is May 5. JR Tucker High School Drama Boosters to host “Race to the End” Color Run

The J.R. Tucker High School Drama Boosters will host the “Race to the End” Color Run from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the school, 2910 N. Parham Rd. Participants of the event will be rewarded with post-race events on campus including vendors, concessions and kid activities. Race registration includes bib, color packet and t-shirt (guaranteed to participants that register by May 4). Cost is $25 for students, $35 for adults and $30 for groups of five or more. Center for the Arts at Henrico HS to present 2017 Visual Art Senior Show

The Center for the Arts at Henrico High School will present its 2017 Visual Art Senior Show at Art Works, 320 Hull Street in Richmond, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is free.

The show is the culmination of the efforts of senior students of Mary Scurlock. The exhibit will appear in the Jane Sandelin Gallery through June 6.
