Henrico Citizen Staff Reports 04/07/11
Following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “critical” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “non-critical” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.
Eastern Buffet, 7586 West Broad Street – Five critical violations reported (several full open drinking cups observed in the kitchen; dishwasher observed rinsing hands/arms with plain water after handling dirty dishes before handling clean dishes; raw salmon with juices observed stored over loosely covered seafood salad; shrimp, garlic in oil, noodles observed at improper temperatures; cooked “house roll,” breaded chicken, seafood salad found not date labeled) and five non-critical violations reported.
El Nopal, 5205 South Laburnum Avenue – Six critical violations (no person in charge, both managers absent; persons on site did not know symptoms associated with a food related illness, were not told by management; open drinks in kitchen; white queso found at improper temperature on steam table; fresh salsa made with tomatoes at improper temperature; white salsa made with milk found at room temperature; no dates found on cooked vegetables, cooked chicken, pico) and 16 non-critical violations reported.
Hampton Inn & Suites, 5406 Glenside Drive – No violations reported.
Far East Cafe, 4801 Nine Mile Road – One critical violation reported (observed food employee fail to wash his hands before putting on gloves to fry French fries) and no non-critical violations reported.
Friendly Family Restaurants, 10601 Patterson Avenue – One critical violation reported (tuna salad was 44 degrees and hard boiled eggs were 47 degrees in the sandwich prep unit) and no non-critical violations reported.
Lakeside Chinese Carryout, 5607 Lakeside Avenue – No violations reported.
Oasis/Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 2605 Dumbarton Road – No violations reported.
Steward School, 11600 Gayton Road – One critical violation reported (employee was seen and heard coughing while in the kitchen and on the service line) and one non-critical violation reported.
Texas De Brazil, 1404 North Parham Road – No violations reported.
Blessing Sent Child Care, 4762 Finlay Street – One critical violation reported (unlabeled cleaner found in spray bottle) and five non-critical violations reported.
Chen’s Chinese Restaurant, 11361 Nuckols Road – One critical violation reported (rice at cook line observed at improper temperature) and no non-critical violations reported.
Chipotle Mexican Grill, 4930 West Broad Street – No violations reported.
Glenwood Golf Club, 3100 Creighton Road – No violations reported.
Ledo Pizza & Pasta, 4030 Gathering Place – Three critical violations reported (raw eggs were stored directly on top of lasagna; precooked chicken wings, cooked pasta and sliced cheeses were not date labeled; chemical spray bottle unlabeled) and five non-critical violations reported.
Moody Middle School, 7800 Woodman Road – No violations reported.
Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits, 2318 East Laburnum Avenue – One critical violation (open drinking cup observed in sandwich prep unit) and eight non-critical violations reported.
Shackleford’s, 10496 Ridgefield Parkway – No critical violations reported and two non-critical violations reported.
Target Store, 10100 Brook Road – No violations reported.
