Restaurant Watch

Following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “critical” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “non-critical” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.

NOV. 15
Chipotle Mexican Grill, 4930 West Broad Street – No critical violations reported and four non-critical violations reported.
Dogwood Terrace, 10300 Three Chopt Road – One critical violation reported (chicken and dumpling mixture – chicken, vegetables and gravy sauce – found in walk-in refrigerator at improper temperatures) and three non-critical violations reported.
Full Kee Restaurant, 6400 Horsepen Road – Three critical violations reported (person in charge could not explain symptoms of illness when employee should not work; employee reported to work and did not wash hands before starting food prep; large pot of chicken stock was 81 degrees after pot taken off burner overnight due to hood being cleaned) and no non-critical violations reported.

NOV. 16
Bowl America, 5018 Williamsburg Road – No violations reported.
Casa Grande Restaurant, 10120 Brook Road – One critical violation reported (food observed in the prep unit -- tomatoes, sour cream, pico, chicken, chorizo -- at improper temperatures) and no non-critical violations reported.
Crossings Golf Club, 800 Virginia Center Parkway – No critical violations reported and three non-critical violations reported.
El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant II, 2204 East Laburnum Avenue – One critical violation reported (observed prepared foods -- beans, carnitas, flan, etc. -- not date labeled) and four non-critical violations reported.
Kindercare Learning Center, 1001 Pump Road – No violations reported.
Kindred Hospital, 2220 Edward Holland Drive – One critical violation reported (two pans of cooked ribs, removed too early from freezer walk-in during cooling process, at improper temperatures and pan of cream of wheat inside walk-in found at improper temperatures ) and no non-critical violations reported.
Magnolia Ridge Child Development Center, 1300 Virginia Center Parkway – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Panera Bread, 9960 Brook Road – One critical violation reported (dishwasher observed handling soiled dishes and not washing hands before handling clean dishes) and no non-critical violations reported.
River City Diner North, 803 East Parham Road – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Shoney's Restaurant, 8415 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (potato salad and macaroni salad on salad bar found at improper temperatures) and no non-critical violations reported.
St. Mary's Hospital, 5801 Bremo Road – One critical violation reported (employee observed chewing gum on tray line) and no non-critical violations reported.
U-Turn Cafe, 2101 Maywill Street – One critical violation reported (bleach water inside spray bottle was at improper level) and one non-critical violation reported.

NOV. 17

Aunt Sarah's Pancake House, 5550 Williamsburg Road – One critical violation (pancake batter in low boy, melon fruit salad in reach-in observed at improper temperatures) and five non-critical violations reported.
Bogart's Inc., 443 North Ridge Road – Two critical violations reported (no sanitizer in dishmachine, employee washed container in three-compartment sink and did not sanitize; glass cleaner found at prep table while employee was preparing food) and no non-critical violations reported.
Chick-Fil-A Regency Square, 1404 North Parham Road – No violations reported.
Greek-4-U, 10604 Patterson Avenue – One critical violation reported (ready-to-eat foods made during past weekend not date-marked) and no non-critical violations reported.
Joey's Place, 10400 Ridgefield Parkway – Two critical violations reported (utensil used to mash ground beef had been cleaned and sanitized but still had residue on it; chili prepped at 10 that morning -- raw ground beef and seasonings and hot water -- is 72 degrees in refrigerator) and one non-critical violation reported.
