Citizen Staff Reports 06/11/12
The following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “critical” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “non-critical” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.
Casa Grande, 3532 Pump Road – One critical violation reported (live roaches found on the walls in microwave, under table and on shelves) and three non-critical violations reported.
Crossroads Bar and Grill, 2000 Staples Mill Road – Four critical violations reported (employees did not wash hands when changing tasks and before putting on gloves; TCS not cooled from 135 to 41 degrees in six hours or less, chicken noodle soup and French onion soup found at improper temperatures in reach-in refrigerator, soups were hot the previous night; no date marks found on opened deli meats held more than 24 hours; cole slaw found dated “use by April 10, 2012,” red beans date-marked May 13) and 15 non-critical violations reported.
Kroger, 9480 West Broad Street – No violations reported.
Longhorn Steakhouse, 4409 South Laburnum Avenue – One critical violation reported (food in the refrigerated drawers – rice, ribs, Parmesan sauce, hot dogs – and steaks in line reach-in cooler observed at improper temperatures) and no non-critical violations reported.
Short Pump Pour House, 3438 Pump Road – Two critical violations reported (BBQ, sliced turkey and raw chicken found in prep unit at improper temperatures; two containers of chili found in walk-in cooler without date labels) and no non-critical violations reported.
Subway Sandwiches & Salads, 73 South Airport Drive – One critical violation reported (BBQ chicken at make table observed at improper temperatures) and one non-critical violation reported.
Westbury Deli at Westbury Pharmacy, 8903 Three Chopt Road – One critical violation reported (dessert case observed at improper temperature) and three non-critical violations reported.
Collegiate School-Lower, 103 North Mooreland Road – No violations reported.
Portabella’s Ristorante, 2627 New Market Road – No violations reported.
Queen’s Dim Sum, 7801 West Broad Street – Six critical violations (raw shrimp found above cooked foods and vegetables, raw whole chickens found hanging above vegetables; dish machine not sanitizing, final rinse was 125 degrees; dim sum in cabinet, mushroom dim sum found at improper temperatures; garlic in oil, wontons on ice, canned mushrooms double nested in make table found at improper temperatures; two-door unit, chicken found at improper temperatures; no dates found on cooked potentially hazardous foods; hot water dripping at handsink
and was turned off) and nine non-critical violations reported.
West Lake Chinese Restaurant, 11256 Patterson Avenue – One critical violation reported (six 6-pound, 4-ounce cans of corn found badly dented and stored with undamaged cans) and no non-critical violations reported.
A & B Lunchboat, 2627 New Market Road – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Antioch Recreation Association, 4310 Redbank Road – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Highland Springs High School, 15 South Oak Avenue – No violations reported.
Kebab & Biryani, 2452 Old Brick Road – Five critical violations reported (employee observed handling chicken with gloved hands, removing gloves and putting on new gloves to cook on the line without washing hands; employee observed taking less than 10 seconds to wash hands; employee observed handling naan bread with bare hands; raw chicken found stored directly above cooked food; no date labels found on the precooked then cooled foods in the walk-in) and one non-critical violation reported.
KFC, 3800 Mechanicsville Turnpike – No critical violations reported and three non-critical violations reported.
L’italia, 10610 Patterson Avenue – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Teppanyaki Grill & Buffet, 9043 West Broad Street – Four critical violations reported (lack of parasite destruction information found on site; cooked crawfish found in the cook line reach-in unit atop/adjacent to raw chicken; utensils/meat cleavers found on wall rack at three-compartment sink that were soiled to sight and touch; breaded
chicken in three-door reach-in and cooked chicken thigh meat found at improper temperatures) and six non-critical violations reported.
Waffle House, 7109 West Broad Street – No violations reported.
Canterbury Recreation Association, 1300 Pump Road – No violations reported.
Hilton Garden Inn, 441 International Centre Drive – No violations reported.
Keagan’s Restaurant, 2251 Old Brick Road – Three critical violations reported (oysters, fish, dip and calamari observed in the bottom of the prep unit at at improper temperatures; several containers of food products that had been prepared then cooled without date labels; no consumer advisory on breakfast) and one non-critical violation reported.
Pho City Restaurant, 8900 West Broad Street – Three critical violations reported (shell eggs found stored over produce in walk-in; no label and date found on pho broths; no visible link found on menu items to disclosure) and no non-critical violations reported.
Rackets Grill, 1703 Raintree Drive – No critical violations reported and two non-critical violations reported.
