Citizen Staff Reports 03/21/13
The following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “critical” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “non-critical” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.
Bocca Toscana Ristorante Pizzeria, 7021 Three Chopt Road – No violations reported.
Casa Grande, 3532 Pump Road – No critical violations reported and five non-critical violations reported.
Chili's Grill & Bar, 9950 Brook Road – One critical violation reported (mashed potatoes found at improper temperature in walk-in unit) and no non-critical violations reported.
Colonial Trail Elementary School, 12101 Bacova Drive – No violations reported.
Cook Out, 1501 Eastridge Road – No violations reported.
Dagwood's Deli & Catering, 5717 South Laburnum Avenue – One critical violation reported (bologna, salami, ham, tuna inside sandwich unit observed at improper temperatures) and no non-critical violations reported.
Kabuto Japanese House Of Steaks, 8052 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (employee in kitchen observed chewing gum) and four non-critical violations reported.
Mai Sushi, 7019-G Three Chopt Road – No violations reported.
Manor Care Health Services-Stratford Hall, 2125 Hilliard Road – No violations reported.
Maya Mexican Grill and Tequila Lounge, 4348 Pouncey Tract Road – Three critical violations reported (employee observed not washing hands before putting on gloves; dishmachine observed with chlorine concentration less than 10 ppm; cook observed pulling chicken breast from grill prepared to serve before chicken reached minimum cook temperature of 165 degrees) and no non-critical violations reported.
Mi Mariachi Bar & Grill Mexican Restaurant, 3112-A Northside Avenue – No violations reported.
Nanking, 7408 West Broad Street – Three critical violations reported (dishmachine did not reach sanitize temperature; slicer observed in need of cleaning; some foods – cooked shrimp, duck, egg rolls – not date labeled) and 11 non-critical violations reported.
Portabella's Ristorante, 2627 New Market Road – No violations reported.
Tara Thai, 11800 West Broad Street – No violations reported.
Thai Diner, 8059 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (machine used for slicing meat and chicken found with dried food residue on food contact surfaces) and no non-critical violations reported.
Waffle House, 5102 Williamsburg Road – One critical violation reported (ham on sandwich line at 45 degrees, insulated crock was not frozen) and two non-critical violations reported.
West Lake Chinese Restaurant, 11256 Patterson Avenue – No critical violations reported and four non-critical violations reported.
Atlantic Coast Athletic Club, 2201 Old Brick Road – No violations reported.
Family Secrets Restaurant, 5310 Chamberlayne Avenue – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Flinn's, 403-B North Ridge Road – One critical violation reported (styrofoam cup of liquid with lid/straw observed sitting on meat slicer) and two non-critical violations reported.
New New Top's China, 3820B Mechanicsville Turnpike – Four critical violations reported (employee observed handling raw pork then only rinsing hands at three-part sink; employees observed washing and rinse but failing to sanitize wares/utensils; observed fried rice at wok line at 55 degrees; no date labels on prepared foods) and six non-critical violations reported.
Nine Mile Subway, 3606 Nine Mile Road – No violations reported.
Sistar Seafood, 4844 South Laburnum Avenue – Two critical violations reported (personal drink observed near cook line without straw; raw eggs observed stored above cabbage) and no non-critical violations reported.
St. James CDC, 2169 New Market Road – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Teppanyaki Grill Supreme Buffet, 4338 South Laburnum Avenue – Seven critical violations (several open drinks found in kitchen; wait staff observed clearing table and returning to dining room without proper hand-washing; raw oysters observed stored over Jell-O, raw mussels observed stored over cooked mussels, raw beef observed stored over sea legs; spring rolls, meatballs, stuffed crab, octopus salad, sea leg salad, shrimp observed in bowl at improper temperatures; no dates found on most foods, including sea legs, mussels, cut melon, noodles, rice, cooked eggs; time not tracked for desserts on buffet) and two non-critical violations reported.
