James River Parade of Lights scheduled for Dec. 10

The 19th annual James River Parade of Lights, a boat parade sponsored by the James River Advisory Council, will take place Saturday, Dec. 10. Boats decorated with thousands of lights will cruise the James between Richmond and Henrico and Chesterfield counties.

There are multiple viewing sites, several of which will provide entertainment prior to the viewing. In Richmond, entertainment will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Libby Hill Park, at the corner of 28th and E. Franklin Streets. Henrico’s viewing celebration will take place at Osborne Park, 9530 Osborne Tnpk. Gather around a bonfire and enjoy holiday music and activities. A Toy Parade, sponsored by the Battlefield Ruritans, will precede the Parade of Lights at 3 p.m. Residents in Chesterfield have two options: Dutch Gap Boat Landing and Henricus Historical Park.

The Virginia Folk Music Association and the McShin Foundation will present the 7th annual Bluegrass Concert/Benefit, “Live in Richmond,” at Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church, 2300 Dumbarton Rd.
