2011 ‘Virginia is For Lovers’ Travel Guide Released

Virginia recently released the 2011 Virginia is for Lovers travel guide, which features more than 200 pages of amusement parks, beach getaways, wineries, history and outdoor adventure vacation ideas. Special sections are devoted to family fun, small town discoveries and regional itineraries. The guide is available for free by request at http://www.Virginia.org, by calling 1-800-VISITVA or at any Virginia Welcome Center.
Major state milestones planned in 2011 include the 75th anniversary of Shenandoah National Park and Virginia State Parks, as well as the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War and Emancipation, with commemorative events and new exhibits planned throughout Virginia. Henrico also will celebrate its 400th anniversary.
Each of Virginia’s distinct regions is featured in the Virginia Travel Guide, with photography and “must see” local attractions.

CalendarThe Saint Gertrude Alumnae Association Board will present the annual “Holly Spree on Stuart Avenue” from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 18 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19. Over 40 local vendors will be selling items including wreaths, soaps, Christmas items, pet items, jewelry, scarves, hats, frozen casseroles and more.
