Restaurant watch

The following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “critical” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “non-critical” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.

FEB. 1
Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, 7801 West Broad Street – Two critical violations reported (bare hands used to prep cilantro for pico; no label found on a chemical spray bottle.) and one non-critical violation reported.
Burgerworks, 10321 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (onions and mushrooms found at improper temperatures in hot holding unit) and no non-critical violations reported.
Chipotle Mexican Grill, 11728 West Broad Street – No violations reported.
El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant II, 2204 East Laburnum Avenue – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
New Catina, 6215-A West Broad Street – Five critical violations reported (cutting board found blackened with mildew; shrimp in warmer, pate chorix in warmer found at improper temperatures, difficult to know what foods were being heated and what foods were trying to be held hot; corn on counter found at improper temperature; ground pork/fish/egg yolk top found on counter at beginning of visit, then placed in display case; quail eggs found at improper temperature, open can on counter; no dates found on pate, jellied meat, other cooked meats in walk-in or in make table) and nine non-critical violations reported.
Sweet Olive Mediterranean Grill, 9127 West Broad Street – Three critical violations reported (personal drinks on food counter; make table found with elevated temperatures: hummus, baba ganoush, feta, gyro meat, grape leaves; dates missing from gyro meat, hummus) and ten non-critical violations reported.

El Amanacer Latino Market, 8410 Staples Mill Road – No violations reported.
El Paraiso Restaurante, 4034 Crockett Street – Two critical violations reported (beef soup in steam table found at improper temperature, made that morning and had been there less than four hours; TCS food prepared and held in refrigerator more than 24 hours not date marked) and four non-critical violations reported.
Firehouse Subs, 8191 Brook Road – No violations reported.
Hurley’s Tavern, 4028 Cox Road – No critical violations reported and two non-critical violations reported.
Mi Guerrero Grill, 61 South Laburnum Avenue – No critical violations reported and four non-critical violations reported.
O’Charley’s Restaurant, 9927 Mayland Drive – No violations reported.
Tivoli Pizza, 2903 Williamsburg Road – No violations reported.
Vinny’s Italian Grill & Pizzeria, 3434 Lauderdale Drive – No critical violations reported and two non-critical violations reported.

Blessings For You Child Care, 5405 Brook Road – No violations reported.
Dave & Buster’s, 4001 Brownstone Boulevard – One critical violation reported (spray nozzle on three-compartment sink doesn’t stay above fill line) and four non-critical violations reported.
Hardee’s, 6302 Lakeside Avenue – One critical violation reported (employees observed leaving food prep area and returning, putting on gloves and not washing their hands) and no non-critical violations reported.
Kebab & Biryani, 2452 Old Brick Road – Three critical violations reported (pan of Tandoori chicken on shelf on grill found at improper temperature; containers of sauces in large buckets and pans of meat enough for at least two days found without date labels; spray can of oven cleaner found stored on refrigerator) and one non-critical violation reported.
Little Caesar’s Pizza, 9514 Woodman Road – No violations reported.
Pick-Ups Plus Catering, LLC., 12422 Gayton Road – No violations reported.
Send-A-Chef, 100 West Nine Mile Road – One critical violation reported (grilled onions and peppers observed being held at room temperature) and four non-critical violations reported.
Virginia Barbeque Company, 6920-E Lakeside Avenue – No violations reported.

Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar, 1090 Virginia Center Parkway – One critical violation reported (three spray bottles found stored improperly and labeled improperly) and no non-critical violations reported.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Visitors Center, 1800 Lakeside Avenue – No violations reported.
Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 8300 Brook Road – One critical violation reported (no time record found for sliced tomatoes on service line) and no non-critical violations reported.
