Citizen Staff Reports 12/20/12
The following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “critical” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “non-critical” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.
Annie Mac's Kitchen, 7801 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (flies found in kitchen) and one non-critical violation reported.
Cajun Cafe, 11800 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (cooked chicken found in walk-in box with no use-by date) and one non-critical violation reported.
Genghis Grill, 11849 West Broad Street – Two critical violations reported (bartender observed handling fruit garnish for drinks with his bare hands; no sanitizer detected in dish machine) and no non-critical violations reported.
Boka 2, 7801 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (chicken and tofu observed at improper temperatures inside walk-in) and four non-critical violations reported.
Crossroads Bar and Grill, 2000 Staples Mill Road – Three critical violations reported (slicer not cleaned after use the day before, large amount of cooked pork on back of blade and guard, other meat on front under guard; dish machine final rinse temperature not hot enough to sanitize wares; spray bottle of drain fly killer observed with pans and smoke odor remover on prep table) and one non-critical violation reported.
Arby's, 5220 Williamsburg Road – One critical violation reported (roasted chicken in front holding cabinet observed at improper temperature) and five non-critical violations reported.
Casa Mexicana 2, 8800 Landmark Road – Five critical violations (employees did not wash hands when changing tasks: after handling dirty dishes, after leaving prep area and before putting on gloves; employee observed holding tomato with bare hands while slicing; dish machine final rinse observed at improper level of chlorine; rice cooked that morning observed at improper temperature in steam table; TCS foods in refrigeration units – sour cream, cooked shrimp, raw chicken, raw beef – at improper temperatures in reach-in refrigerator, refried beans and chicken at improper temperatures in walk-in refrigerator.) and 10 non-critical violations reported.
Shoney's, 7101 Staples Mill Road – Three critical violations reported (cheesy hash browns on hot bar observed at improper temperatures, not reheated before placed on bar; rice pilaf prepared that day observed at improper temperature in sealed bag in walk-in refrigerator and clam chowder dated Sunday at improper temperature in sealed bags in walk-in refrigerator; TCS food in refrigeration units observed at improper temperatures, diced ham, shredded cheese, cottage cheese, cantaloupe, yogurt in salad bar, raw chicken wings and spaghetti sauce in drawer of reach-in refrigerator and sliced cheese in top of prep reach-in refrigerator at improper temperatures) and no non-critical violations reported.
TGI Friday's, 4459 South Laburnum Avenue – No critical violations reported and four non-critical violations reported.
Victory Christian Academy, 8491 Chamberlayne Road – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Westwood Club – kitchen, 6200 West Club Lane – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Breaker's Sports Grille, 9127V West Broad Street – Three critical violations reported (pizza pans from previous day observed atop oven soiled to sight/touch; two stainless steel pans of raw chicken breast in low boy cook line reach-in refrigeration unit observed at improper temperatures; spray bottle of green solution at mop sink and bottle of yellow solution at bar observed with no identification labeling) and three non-critical violations reported.
China Star, 3423 Cox Road – No violations reported.
Dairy Queen, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive – No violations reported.
Embassy Suites-Dining, 2925 Emerywood Parkway – Two critical violations reported (employee observed using bare hands to place parsley on a finished salad; raw burgers, steaks observed stored above crab mix) and no non-critical violations reported.
Leonardo's Pizza & Pasta, 10883 West Broad Street – No violations reported.
Padow's Hams & Deli, Inc., 1601 Willow Lawn Drive – No critical violations reported and five non-critical violations reported.
TGI Friday's, 7023 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (hard-boiled eggs observed at improper temperature in drawer, however all other temperatures were fine in drawer, eggs in walk-in were also at proper temperatures – apparently the eggs were abused during set-up) and no non-critical violations reported.
Tony's Italian Restaurant, 3409 Cox Road – No violations reported.
