Restaurant watch

The following are routine and complaint inspection reports for Henrico County food establishments inspected recently by the Henrico Health Department, according to Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Deficiencies are noted as “critical” (posing a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served) or “non-critical” (representing a failure of cleaning or maintenance). Inspections represent only a snapshot of the establishment on a specific date and time and may not be representative of its overall cleanliness, according to the VDH. Unless noted, all reported violations were corrected at the time of inspection or shortly thereafter.

JUNE 27
Antonio’s Pizza, 63 South Airport Drive – No critical violations reported and three non-critical violations reported.
Cheeburger Cheeburger, 11363 Nuckols Road – One critical violation reported (lexan containers not properly cleaned before being stacked on clean rack) and no non-critical violations reported.
DaVinci, 5156 Nine Mile Road – Three critical violations reported (slicer in need of cleaning; food in sandwich prep unit – ham, tuna salad – observed at improper temperatures; no date labels found on prepared or opened TCS foods: cooked noodles, tuna salad, lasagna) and no non-critical violations reported.
Gino’s Ristorante Pizzeria, 10118 Brook Road – No critical violations reported and five non-critical violations reported.
Greek Grill Cafe, 2313 Westwood Avenue – One critical violation reported (TCS foods in prep refrigeration units – sausage, pepperoni, cheese and cut tomatoes – observed at improper temperatures, temperature dial had been moved; in large prep refrigerator, deli meat was stacked too high and meats at top were at improper temperature) and no non-critical violations reported.
Historic Mankin Mansion, 4300 Oakleys Lane – No violations reported.
Kabab Bistro, 7801 West Broad Street – No violations reported.
Pho Boston, 9125-L West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (spray nozzle below fill line) and no non-critical violations reported.
Soul Food Cafe, 4907 Nine Mile Road – One critical violation reported (food made this morning – macaroni and cheese, baked spaghetti – observed holding at improper temperatures) and one non-critical violation reported.
Stuffy’s, 9780 Gayton Road – No violations reported.
Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 5212 Brook Road – No violations reported.

JUNE 28
Aunt Sarah’s Pancake House, 9010 Brook Road – No violations reported.
Balkan Restaurant, 8905 Patterson Avenue – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Daylight Donuts, 10260 West Broad Street – One critical violation reported (hot TCS food –sausage – observed being held at improper temperatures) and three non-critical violations reported.
Gayton Terrace, 12401 Gayton Road – Two critical violations reported (tuna, meatballs and milk observed at improper temperatures in walk-in cooler; gallons of milk with expired dates observed) and no non-critical violations reported.
Halligan Bar & Grill, 2451 Old Brick Road – No violations reported.
Shoney’s, 7101 Staples Mill Road – One critical violation reported (TCS foods in reach-in refrigerator and at salad bar – rice, raw chicken, cantaloupe, potato salad, cole slaw, cottage cheese – observed at improper temperatures) and five non-critical violations reported.
Side Pocket, 2012 Staples Mill Road – Two critical violations reported (slicer not clean; several past-date TCS foods observed in walk-in refrigerator: stew, meat loaf, chicken noodle soup) and five non-critical violations reported.
SkateNation Plus, 4350 Pouncey Tract Road – No critical violations reported and one non-critical violation reported.
Tuckaway-Varina Child Development Center, 1501 Midview Road – No critical violations reported and two non-critical violations reported.
Umami Coffee & Tea, 6920 Lakeside Avenue – Three critical violations reported (dishes being washed but not sanitized; ready-to-eat food observed without dates in refrigerator; eggs found on menu that a consumer could order undercooked) and no non-critical violations reported.
VFW Post 6364, 6502 Dickens Place – One critical violation reported (TCS food in refrigeration units and hot dogs in new reach-in refrigerator observed at improper temperatures) and two non-critical violations reported.

JUNE 29
Holiday Inn, 445 International Centre Drive – Two critical violations reported (cook observed handling croissant with bare hands; slicer found in need of cleaning) and no non-critical violations.
