Program on Pocahontas, Rocke Hall at Henricus Nov. 5

Henricus Historical Park, 251 Henricus Park Rd. in Chester, will present “Pocahontas, Rocke Hall and the Powhatan People” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5. The program will feature Rocke Hall, home to Rev. Alexander Whitaker, who tutored Pocahontas at Henricus. The life of Pocahontas at Henricus will also be examined at the event, as well as the significant impact neighboring Virginia Indians had on the English colonists. Founded by Sir Thomas Dale, Henricus was the second successful English settlement in North America and commemorated its 400th anniversary in September. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with Sir Thomas Dale, John Rolfe and Rev. Alexander Whitaker. American Indian activities will include historical recreations of daily Virginia Indian life including rituals of the harvest season. Admission is free for gift club patrons, $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-12. The rain date is Nov. 6. For details, call 748-1613 or visit http://www.henricus.org
