‘Dancing with the Stars of Richmond’ Planned

The second annual “Dancing with the Stars of Richmond” fund-raising event will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Rigby’s Jig Dance Studio, 5740 West Broad Street.

Local celebrity participants will include CBS reporter Antoinette Essa; Sports Radio AM-910 radio host Wes McElroy; Richmond Flying Squirrels Director of Community Relations and Promotions Christina Shisler; Dr. Deirdre Tyson, a pediatric endocrinology specialist; Radio 1 News Director Clovia Lawrence; and Eddy and Mimi Pizzani, known as “The Dancing Docs.”

Bill Bevins and Shelly Perkins from the Lite 98 Radio morning show will share the emcee duties for the evening.

All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Richmond American Diabetes Association. Tickets are $60 per person and include hors d’oeuvres and drinks for guests, as well as dancing. Tickets are available at the Rigby’s Jig Dance Studio.

The Henrico Theatre Company will present “The 1940s Radio Hour” Dec. 2-18 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. A different time is evoked in this holiday show, a live broadcast of The Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade from the Hotel Astor’s Algonquin Room on December 21, 1942.
