Mother and son open new restaurant in Sandston

The Sandston Kitchen will celebrate its official grand opening on Memorial Day, May 27. The restaurant is located in the site of the former Sandston Pharmacy at 2 West Williamsburg Road. It serves breakfast and lunch seven days a week and dinner Tuesday through Saturday.
Virginia Randolph Education Center to host open house on Nov. 9

Virginia Randolph Education Center (VREC), which provides educational services to students with special needs, will hold an open house to showcase new materials and equipment on Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. VREC received a special education grant that allowed them to renovate parts of their facility and invest in new and innovative learning tools for special needs children.}

Henricus Historical Park, 251 Henricus Park Rd. in Chester, will present “Pocahontas, Rocke Hall and the Powhatan People” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5. The program will feature Rocke Hall, home to Rev. Alexander Whitaker, who tutored Pocahontas at Henricus. The life of Pocahontas at Henricus will also be examined at the event, as well as the significant impact neighboring Virginia Indians had on the English colonists. }
