Workforce Hero Moves In

Tim Lukhard (center), who with his wife Joy is Parham Estate’s newest homeowner, was officially welcomed into the neighborhood Nov. 10 with a housewarming gift from Carter Snipes (left) and Annie Snipes of Snipes Preferred Properties. A firefighter, Lukhard was able to take advantage of special “workforce hero” closing cost incentives that were the subject of a 2009 Henrico Citizen story about affordable housing innovations. The Lukhards, former residents of Knollingwood, are enjoying their home’s location a block from Jackson Davis E.S., where daughter Bailey can walk to her second-grade class.

The Tappahannock Rotary’s 14th Annual Andrew Reavis Memorial Croaker Tournament in the Rappahannock River will be held from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event typically draws anglers from throughout Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Anglers will compete for $4,500 in prize money. Boat entry fees are $125 before May 1 and $150 thereafter. The tournament headquarters will be at Garrett’s Marina in Center Cross.
