The Varina Woman’s Club will present “Adam’s Eve” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at John Rolfe Middle School, 6901 Messer Rd. All proceeds are used to support philanthropic endeavors in the community such as scholarships for deserving Varina High School graduates. Tickets are $15 and include dinner. The first-ever Dancing with the Richmond Stars will be held at 7 p.m. at the VCU Singleton Center. Southside Area Mother of Multiples (SAMOM) will hold their Everything for Kids Semi-Annual Sale at Manchester Middle School, 7401 Hull Street Rd., from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Featured items include gently used infant, children’s and maternity clothing, equipment, bedding, books, toys and more. The Richmond SPCA’s 9th Annual Dog Jog and 5K Run will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robins-Starr Humane Center, 2519 Hermitage Rd. As part of the county’s 400th anniversary, Henrico will sponsor a free Virginia Indian Cultural Program for all ages at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd., from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Indian artisans will display their pottery, beadwork, leatherwork and painting and discuss their work with the public. The Virginia Indian Intertribal Drum and Dancers will perform traditional and contemporary tribal dances and also discuss the significance of the regalia they wear and each dance they perform. One Voice Chorus will perform “Jubilee!” at 7 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 216 W. Leigh St. In honor of the sesquicentennial commemoration of the Civil War and the end of slavery, more than 100 singers in the interracial community chorus will perform African-American spirituals and other songs by African-American composers, past and present. The audience is invited to a pre-concert conversation, “Harmony in Living Black and White,” at 6 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults; children 12 and under are free. The Weinstein JCC will host a Purim Carnival from 12:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. There will be carnival games, goodie bags, live music, arts and crafts, inflatables, clowns, food and more. Holidays will delay some CVWMA collections


CVWMA curbside recycling collection and trash collections will have a one day delay in collections Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2. There will be no collections on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.

Curbside recycling collections Monday through Wednesday will be on regular schedule. Red Thursday and Red Friday curbside recyclers will have a one day delay in collection services Dec. 25-26. Blue Thursday and Blue Friday curbside recyclers will have one day delay in collection services Jan. 1-2. Containers should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day. MADD to host candlelight vigil Dec. 2 at UR

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will host a candlelight vigil of remembrance and hope Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at the University of Richmond, outside the Cannon Chapel. The public is invited to attend and join MADD to honor victims of impaired driving crashes, while helping to remind the community to be safe during the holidays. > Read more.

Several holiday performances take place this weekend in Henrico including “It’s a Wonderful Life” and Theatre IV on Tour’s “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” – both at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. The Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale will perform Vivaldi’s “Gloria” at River Road Church, Baptist and the Virginia Repertory Theatre will present “Santa’s Christmas Miracle” at the Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. One of the most unique holiday traditions in Henrico, the James River Parade of Lights, takes place tomorrow. The viewing spot in Henrico will be at Osborne Park in Varina. Another annual event in the east end is the Eastern Henrico Holiday Extravaganza, taking place this year at The Armour House & Gardens and the Dabbs House Museum.
