Enjoy an evening of classical and holiday pops music featuring The Ranier Trio with soprano Leslie Mabe at 7 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Rd. The concert is part of CACGA’s 2nd Stage series, now in its fourth year, which highlights a different musical genre on the first Friday of each month. Tickets are $12. The 1947 classic “Miracle on 34th Street” will play at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at Henrico Theatre, 305 E. Nine Mile Rd. HATTheatre will present “Home for Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7-8, 4 p.m. Dec. 8 and at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9. The musical tells the story of a family who, having lost their husband and father, are celebrating their first Christmas without him. When the children happen upon the homeless Kate, they decide it would be a wonderful idea to invite her for Christmas dinner. Mom disagrees. The play contrasts the bustling commercialism of the holiday with the plight of the homeless. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for youth/students. The Richmond Men’s Chorus and Richmond Women’s Chorus will present “Great Joy” at 8 p.m. Dec. 8 and at 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at Ginter Park Presbyterian Church, 3601 Seminary Ave. Each chorus will perform individually and also combine to present seasonal favorites. The 27th annual Toys for Tots 5k will take place at 1 p.m. in The Shoppes at Innsbrook. The race fee is $10 or participants can donate a toy valued at $10. Chabad of Virginia will host Chanukah on Ice, a community event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Skatenation Plus, 4350 Pouncey Tract Rd. The Central Virginia Wind Symphony, comprised of high school musicians from Henrico and surrounding counties, will perform its annual Holiday Spectacular at 3 p.m. inside the food court at Virginia Center Commons, 10101 Brook Rd. CVWMA curbside recycling collection and trash collections will have a one day delay in collections Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1-2. There will be no collections on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1.
Curbside recycling collections Monday through Wednesday will be on regular schedule. Red Thursday and Red Friday curbside recyclers will have a one day delay in collection services Dec. 25-26. Blue Thursday and Blue Friday curbside recyclers will have one day delay in collection services Jan. 1-2. Containers should be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will host a candlelight vigil of remembrance and hope Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. at the University of Richmond, outside the Cannon Chapel. One of the most unique holiday traditions in Henrico, the James River Parade of Lights, takes place tomorrow. The viewing spot in Henrico will be at Osborne Park in Varina.
